Tips for Becoming a Better, More Effective Communicator

  1. Approach With Positive Intention: Before starting a significant conversation, make a conscious decision that you want to have a productive dialogue. Keep that intentional mindset throughout the conversation.

  2. Be Open and Curious: Show genuine interest in their point of view. Remember, a conversation involves two people so make sure they feel heard too.

  3. Pay Attention to Your Delivery: How you communicate matters because the way you speak to someone will always be their biggest takeaway from the interaction.

  4. Set a Positive Tone: If you're concerned about a negative interaction or disagreement, let them know upfront that you want to have a positive conversation and you want to get along with them.

  5. Avoid the Need to Win: Focusing on being right or “winning” can make the other person shut down. Instead, think about the importance of the relationship or having a productive interaction.

I hope you found these tips helpful because good communication skills elevate the quality of your life!
